Re: 40 Gallon Reef
Lol. Just get some base rock from reefcleaners or something. Its cheap and looks great. Or look local for live rock.

I don't name fish. I would get attached. I have had my clown for over a year, survived my cycle and my starfish and several complete rescapes (mini cycles) lol

Re: 40 Gallon Reef
Got a sailfin today . Pics coming soon .
*Okay here we are. When he was acclimating in the bowl one of your parakeets flew into it!!! . Thank god that she didnt scrath up franklin . I had to give the parakeet a nice FW bath though lol. He has gotten right to cleaning up the algae and he is an excuse to upgrade. Since the tank is my dad and ours project i made sure he new it would get 15 inches big and that we would be upgrading to a 125g aquarium . He's only four 1/2 inches big though so we have about 8 months or a year...okay here they are.

Re: 40 Gallon Reef
Okay i put some up. Btw it was a hard decision between the blue, yellow, and powder brown tang. But after thorougly inspecting each we concluded that since he had been there the longest (2 months) and since he looked the healthiest we got him .

Yep. He is so cool. I am really happy because the B&W damsel who thought he was the king of the tank turns out not to be with this guy in there.

Re: 40 Gallon Reef
Bad BAD day!!!! . Tank crashed last night . Out of eight fish we now have two left. Franklin, my Sailfin died, my favorite fish. We also lost Charles my beloved six line and two yellow tail damsels and a blue devil . All we have left is the fire goby and the b&w damsel.
No idea what made everything crash. Nitrates, nitrite & ammonia were all at zero. But then we checked the pH. Not good, it was 7.4 and we all know how low that is. So it must have killed them off, it's back up and hopefully stable for now. But it's just not my luck.

Hmm. Wonder what changed? I mean your using aragonite right? That should have been plenty to keep it buffered.

Nope, just sand from home depot. I guess i should update you guys though. Got a purple tip nem, doing great. Also got a new hydro-koralia powerhead , and some lights, for softies. Don't remember what kind but they work wonders.
But my poor fish .

Haha nice, yeah that would be nice. But...i don't control the budget for this thing. Anyways using the pH up stuff should work as long as we monitor it. Pics coming soon.
