3 Gallon Empty 3 Gallon

Post by Sponge Bob April 7th 2009, 5:50 pm

OK, Like in the PM's I sent you on TPF, I just go some more questions.
Crabs: The crabs at the beach are like this http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1362/1380467992_0cca46e3ff.jpg?v=0
If I do the 3 gallon setup would I need to have space for them to go on the sand to get air?
Hermit crabs: The ones at my beach are relative to this http://www.dougcoutts.com/CostaRica/HermitCrab.Web.1710.JPG
How many can I keep in there?
Snails: The snails at the beach are like this http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3227/2781160096_18f524220a.jpg?v=0
Are those good?
Rocks:The rocks are more like rocks, not ocean live rock. Should I get lace rock at LFS and just put it in the tank? Or rubble rock from LFS? 😕 😕 😕

Thanks

The crab looks like a ghost crab. They get about two inches. I would really only keep one full sized crab in a tank this small. Those snails look like turbo snails but its hard to tell. The should be fine in there. I would go with 1 or 2 hermit crabs at max. Just because of the size of you tank i would go with the proposed stocking list because these are all carnivorous/omnivorous animals excluding the snail and they will most likely cannibalize each other or die from lack of food.

I would go with some rubble with a little bit of rock. That is because rock in temperate regions is most often made of granite or similar dense rocks.

Those may be common shore crabs. I mean anything thats small will be fine in that tank i would just gradually release some stuff the bigger they get.

I am not sure but i would say no. Find some other type of small goby that you can fit in your tank.

Also make sure the animals you get have something to eat.

I wouldnt go with pellets. Try to make their diet as natural as possible since they arent aquarium bred.
