Re: Hypothetical Super Tank
That's a lot of concrete. In order for your tank to be self sustainable, you would need an extremely large amount of plankton. Which means tons of nutrients in the water. That is very hard to achieve in tropical set ups. However if you used one of those chambers for just the plankton it could possibly work.

Im going out today though (to the mall of all places...) So il pretty much be in my own little world all day. Il see if I cant come up with some ideas. I really need to calculate the pressure on the tank so im not just guessing.

Well...We're dealing with 119,040 Lbs of pressure on each wall. Looks like I better put my creativity to work

Re: Hypothetical Super Tank
I GOT IT! Two foot thick wall of type IIIA High-strength Portland cement. We'll say rated at 14,000 PSI (basically high pressure designed for water and soil with minor sulfates and air entrained. It will basically provide insulation and extra pressure relief.) Portland cement also dries from hydration (A chemical reaction with water) which makes it ideal because it will dry faster and since cement takes years to completely dry and reach its full strength it will get stronger faster. Let it sit for 3-6 months before filling.
Yanno thinking about it. It would cost more in steel but I still like the chamber idea. Fill them with dirt and put your glass on top of the tank, Turn around and put it all in one big green house and it could be like a mini ocean in your greenhouse.

Re: Hypothetical Super Tank
No not like that...
___________
| |
| _______ | <--- Greenhouse wall
| | | <----fish tank roof.
The area around the fish tank would be dirt. Basically leaving you the ability to set up a patio on top of the fish tank provided you had thick enough glass. With plants and everything else.
