Cowfish Tank!
I haven't been on for quite a while for a reason...
Today I just picked up a 75 gallon and iron stand for 100 bucks. The stand is kind of rusty, so I plan on repainting it tonight. But otherwise, I also picked up a free in sump protien skimmer (without a pump) but I might have to sell/trade for a hob protien skimmer. I plan on using the 75 gallon as my cowfish tank (I'm getting a thornback cowfish). It will be the only species in the tank, along with some inverts and zooanthids and softies (not sure). I also plan on getting 60 pounds of sand and 50 pounds of rock (40 pounds of base, 10 of live). More to come soon!

That's cool how you're finally starting your tank! Is it currently still in your lawn?

It's just newspapers and what not.
Since you haven't obtained your cowfish yet and you have yet to set up your tank, perhaps I can interest you in the ornate boxfish .

I think you mean tropical.
Look around and see what you can find, or maybe save your money. You can't go wrong either way.

So you're lighting doesn't need to be to strong. Check out F&S and see what they have.
Firefish are fun to watch; try and get a pair.

Re: Cowfish Tank!
I actually decided that I am going to have some LPS and SPS so I am going to consider marineland reef led: http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/ld-mlrb3648/Marineland+Reef+Bright+LED+Light+Fixture+%2836-48+Inch%29.html
or
Vertex Illumilux IV LED Fixture - Marino Blu http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/vt-ldillb04/Vertex+Illumilux+IV+LED+Fixture+-+Marino+Blu+%2848+Inch%29.html

Re: Cowfish Tank!
They both look nice! The Vertex Illumilux IV LED Fixture seems to be the better fixture but then again it is almost $100 more.

Re: Cowfish Tank!
I've decided I am going to purchase these;
Marina Dorado LCD Digital Thermometer
Jager 200 Watt Aquarium Heater (Eheim)
Instant Ocean Hydrometer
Instant Ocean sea salt 160 gallon mix
Vertex Illumiux IV LED 48 inch Marino Blu
Hydor Koralia evolution powerhead 1050 GPH
Coralife Aquarium gloves
Saltwater Master Test Kit
90 Pounds Argonite sugar sand
Thornback cowfish
51 pounds rock (I'll get more later after some aquascaping)
Softies and leather coral frags and zoa frags maybe some hammer coral
Total cost is about 1100 bucks. Electricity and water costs sum up to another grand. So my final cost is about 2000 dollars!

Re: Cowfish Tank!
Hopefully it will all be worth it. Does the calculated cost excluded coral?

Re: Cowfish Tank!
Yeah It will be worth it! Uh the coral would be plus another 100 or so. Then I`ll probably sell some stuff like my useless bikes (that`s too small for me)
