I may have to invest in one of those for my 40 forest tank just because it has a TSM.

What kind of live rock are you going to get?

That's cool! Have fun with the wave maker, I tested it today and it works brilliantly. I plan on getting the 90 pounds of rock I talked about yesterday. Razz

Neat. How many of those power heads would you say I would need for my tank?

One is fine. For a 75 gall I should have 2 mp10's or one mp40 but I'll just stick with one for now.

Okay thanks.

Does your purchase of live rock mean the tank is going to be filled up tomorrow or are you curing the rock?

Bad news...
My family and I are planning to move houses so I apparently cannot set up my 75 gallon until we move into the other house. That means we need to fricking sell our house first then buy the other. Mad

Hopefully it's only a week. It\'s okay

Is it a long distance move or relocating within your town/city?

It' in the same city and area, like a 10 minute drive apart but the other house must be bought only when our current house is sold (because of the higher price).

Apparently our family wants a bigger house. Besides If we do move into the next house, my room would be large enough for a desk, fish tank and bed Very Happy

Yes I am hoping for that too. Although I am rather disappointed that I can't set my tank up yet dry

I'm sure it will be worth it. In the meantime, you can look around for corals and macros.

Thanks for the advice. If you happen to stumble on any coral/macros that will do well in my tank, I'd love to hear about it! Very Happy

crap. More bad news. The planned move has extended to somewhere between 2-6 months. All my parents are concerned about are how heavy the tank will be to move and how much money worth of salt I'll waste by dumping 75 gallon mix of it. And also they are concerned whether or not my cowfish would die from such a move. If any of you have some good valid points that I can use to debate my parents with (I wished I was in University for this reason!) then that would be GREATLY appreciated!

Well, you would waste a lot of salt. From a financial perspective that's a very reasonable argument. However, just arrange it so that the move is on a water change day. Then you would need fresh saltwater anyways.

Assuming you were able to set the tank up speedily - it should probably be the first thing you set up in your room for the sake of whatever's in the tank - and the move doesn't tank to long, the cowfish should be fine. The species you are interested in is by nature hardy.

Regarding the weight of the tank, the only thing you can really do to prevent it from being to heavy is limiting the amount of liverock/rock you obtain.

More details - how long the move would take, distance traveled, etc. - would greatly help us in answering your question.

to be more specific; I am moving to a 6 minute drive from my current housing location. However the tank is 4 feet which barely can fit horizontally accrose 3 seats in the back row. Therefore I and my father, or my sister and I will have to drive without either my parents or without my sibling. But that could be solved by two seperate drives. The weight, at around 1000 pounds filled with water would be substantially damaging to the car. However, I could transport livestock and rock and tank separately. Nice points though. I will definatly bring up this topic. Another thing is the move might be during a very cold and snowy month i.e december, should I worry about livestock dying off? And if so how should I possibly transport my livestock without worrying about it dying?

Thanks for all your time!

There are numerous ways to transport livestock. I often use the LFS method and transport them in a bag. I would transport your live rock in buckets. Try to keep everything warm.

Sell the 75 and get the 155!
