Hypothetical Super Tank Empty Hypothetical Super Tank

Post by Bluntokian August 22nd 2010, 2:23 am

Okay I have a little challenge for our collective intelligence. I want to design a tank 200,000+ gallons live stock rock sand everything, every detail for a hypothetical self contained tank. I have an idea on the shell il do the specifics on and get it mapped and everything. I figure this can be our little community project for awhile so of course designs ideas etc are accepted from everyone. I think itd be a lot better if we all come up with multiple designs for everything and pick whichever works best.

Edit: Already thinking 200k is WAAAY too big....I came up with 34,560 on my design...

Heres my little basement design. Stairs would come down into the 14'x18' center. Idea is based on a 30x30' area.

Heres a second one with 1' of the head clearence took up for random overhead. Also its for solar light so it would be an extension onto the basement or build above ground etc. Still has a room because...Well...Id make it my study/lounge....

Our of curiosity, what kind of computer do you have? Mac, Microsoft, Linux etc. You're toolbar at the bottom looks cool and I've never seen it before lol.

50k sounds much more reasonable. You would need extremely strong structural support.

Lol. Personally I like the over-head design (maybe take out the overhead) because they both have the same volume but it has more depth all around. Plus it saves us on the lighting issue Razz

You're probably going to want a rim too (going back to support).

Hot.

It reminds me of that dude on MFK's 50k gallon and 15k gallon tanks. Same sort of set up.

Yea...I got to thinking about the pressure it would be under (The floor especially) so I added a floor level rim also.

Now the next issue. I think to help insulate the tank from the outdoor heat and cool we should have a 1 foot tall box sitting on top of everything as a buffer. Maybe a small Heat/AC unit set to 76 to keep it the same temp as the tank?

What do you mean by "box?" Like a tank cover?

And how about insulation against floor and walls? Is that feasible in a tank this large?
