Near real time water temps for Coastal Waters
I was looking for temperature information on different species I would have in my temperate tank and stumnbled across this little gem
It gives you near real time water temperatures as well as historical water temps for all coastal areas of the US.
http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/index.html
It's pretty cool to see hard data on a years worth of high temps and low temps in an area that you collect in.
For example, in Astoria Oregon last year the high water temp was 68 F in August, and the low was 42 F in Jan and Feb.
So for tidal inverts from the Oregon coast they can withstand temperatures between 42 F - 68 F in the wild at least.
Nice to know

That's awesome! Really useful for you Americans.
Gotta go search for a Canadian one now.

Trust me, a $50 investment in a pair of neoprene chest waders is well worth it.

I did a temperature test on the water here around April... not even 5 degrees Celsius.
Brrrr...
And you think you Californians got it bad.

The cool water gets nice in the summer when it gets into the 80's .
I wouldn't stray near 5 degrees celsius . But at a museum I did put my hand in water as cold as the "bottom of the Antarctic."

They teach it in the schools here now because of all the Californians coming across the border into Oregon

Are you near the ocean or Great Lakes in your part of Canada? Possibly Lake Winnipeg or one of the other big northern lakes? Of course known of those lakes are marine in composition. Which, unless you live near the ocean, would still leave you out of this .
