Is that a shaw's cowfish/boxfish?

Yes it is. I prefer the Ornates though .

wow in Canada, shaw cowfish are priced at 400 bucks (around that)

Those prices are similar to most in the United States. They're expensive simply because they are shipped all the way from Australia.

Steve unforntunately broke this tank down a few months ago, but I was lucky enough to inherit the majority of his livestock.



He kept the hardware for the setup though, so when he gets it going again I'm sure it will be stocked with things we've never seen before

The boxfish went to a public Aquarium.

At least they are in good hands then, presumably.

Wish I could send you some Cowfish its only costs me a tank of fuel a 150 mile drive and a quick dip in great white shark feeding grounds..Im doing a trip soon as Im going to Phillip island for the Motogp which backs onto a great sea grass bed full of cowfish.

That's amazing how you can merely snorkel and find sea grass beds full of cowfish. Do you happen to know what species they are?

Be careful around those sharks though.

They certainly are a colorful fish. Are Ornate cowfish found in the same region as the Shaw's?

They are. The shaw's dont venture far from bays and fine sea grass shallows of western port, the ornate seem more adventurous and Ive found them on reefs all along the coast never found one in the Lakes here though..

I see. Would you ever consider one for your aquarium? Or is it prohibited by some local regulation...
