I'm going out collecting this weekend, mostly jetty areas and some bays/ estuaries. I will keep my eye out though

This is why there are so few temperate reefers out there. Livestock is readily available. Chicken or egg....

I might PM Jacob or Jamie to see if they could possibly catch and send.

Live Amphipods, live mysis etc... Then on to frozen. Im pretty good at getting different fish to eat i.e. Harlequin Filefish, Large angels, butterflys. I have more resources than the average hobbiest per my place of work. I dont need the fish now, I just want to make sure its attainable in the near future.

Well sounds like you've got that down. You work at an LFS?
It'll be great to see photos of the lump(s) once you get it, which I'm sure you will. Determination...

Is this thing something I'm likely to find here in Vancouver?

They are definitely attainable in the near future. However means of acquiring them may be somewhat difficult.

Yippie! Unfortunately, I've been looking at the tide charts, and we don't get a really low tide during daylight for several months
I just might have to take a flashlight to the beach at 2 am! lol...
