My 20 Long
So I have my 20 Long as we all (that are currently here) know. Stocking list is 2 Ocellaris clowns. Hopefully paired off already. 1 Peppermint shrimp and I honestly dont even know how many snails I have at this point. Got the new rock seeded (Finally) and the nutrient problems are under control. Never have pulled any really dry skimmate off the skimmer but it is consistent. This is the before pics. I plan on doing a major re model on flow soon and adding some nice rubble rock pieces I found after theyre done with there bleach soak and get a really good rinse. Dont worry even though I have some big pieces (And 2 pieces that look EXACTLY like the tidepools live rock) none was harvested, Everything was found. Anyway. On to the pics. Yes the tanks low but the salinity is fine. Getting more distilled water tomorrow (Taps got 1.5 ppm of ammonia)
PS: Im just going to go ahead and post this thread then get the pics up cause theres a lot of them.

Re: My 20 Long
I will sooner or later. I been so busy dude I been out of rehab almost a week now and I literally JUST got off the phone trying to call my cousin for the first time since I got out. Its been crazy dude. Sides its like 75% left over algae on the inside and like 25% salt build up on the outside. Im not worried about how it looks right now just as long as its running. Il worry about looks once I get some of this rubble rock in the tank and seeded and everything. Then I get to have fun with corals I am going to try and talk my mom into letting me order some red garcia or w.e it is from reefcleaners or somewhere and gluing it to a rock so it dosent get sucked into the intake of the powerheads again <.<
Okay so talking into almost completed in 1 sentence. (Thanks mostly to the big black rock) Anyway heres 2 quick pics before I go to sleep. Just washed them all and layed them out, Im going to wait 2 days before I really start playing with any of them. 2 arent in the pics but are actually pieces that had been washed up off the tidepool formation almost too the hotel (Quiet a ways at low tide) Those will definitly be going into the tank. I think im going to hit the extremely over filtered zone when they get seeded.

Thanks ocean. By the way a few extra macros never hurt my nitrates either >.> Man...I need to get my lazy butt up and work on these tanks. At least I dont got much left to do on the 20 for now.

Re: My 20 Long
Thats the entire point!!! Good god man dont give me the option if your just going to change it!!! Anyway, Took the HOB fuge out today and got some water to start mixing (if I can find anymore salt around here >.>) Im going to run the 6 just like a fuge accept it just simply wont be plumbed into the 20. All water swaps done by hand is kind of a small cost right? Took the maxi-jet out also. Moved the powerheads a TINY bit and have some incredibly good flow for only having 2. Basically the 20 is (temporarily) done. Well...At least until thursday...Now we get to resurect the thread for the 6 I shall make its title...BLUE!

Re: My 20 Long
Well kinda not really. Havent got around to getting the water mixing for topping off the 20 or filling the six back up. Havent started work on anything else and I didnt take the pics I promised when I got the macros earlier.

Re: My 20 Long
Incredibly terrible honestly. Mom lost her job had back surgery 3 months ago...All the tanks have went down hill since accept maybe the goldfish tank. Lost my female clown trying to save the tank from a wipe. Lost so much water the salinity was well over .0060 and I didnt have a way of getting the water in slowly. Right now its bouncing back from an all out algae war. There's about 6 or 7 diffirent types of algae over running the tank and at this point its pretty much where I would prefer to give the fish away than keep them under the conditions they're in. Might be moving to kentucky soon...Il find out thursday if my mom got the job up there or not.

Giving the fish away might be the best option unfortunately.

Re: My 20 Long
Thanks Brent. PF, I agree...But my mom just dosent want to let go. I've really been trying to make her see how bad it is. All the plants in the 55 have vanished, We cant afford frozen food for them so theyre eating freeze dried that I got as a just in case, The 20 long glass is basically an algae wall. Theres about 4 inches of rock that isnt covered in bubble algae, The protein skimmers all but give out on me, The bio-wheel on the 55 is pretty much shot I had to cut it off completely...The list just keeps going and going...I think im just going to take everything up to Fintastic and trade them in for store credit and put the money towards better lighting and a better skimmer for the 20. That way once we move wherever we're going to be moving to in the next few months il have a good start.

Re: My 20 Long
Yea but in all honesty im a bit mad at myself for letting it get this bad. I guess on the bright side of all this im currently working on getting my GED. When I get it im going to college for aquatic wildlife biology so il be paying the fish world back for my abuse.

That'll be great!
A very nice career choice. I've got a few relatives in the same business, and they really seem to love it.
