Might be starting my first SW in February
As the title says, I am most likely going to start a new tank after my birthday and Christmas and all that. I am going to do a non-coral, invert only aquarium. Sounds kind of lame but I do not want to get into the corals yet. I am thinking of going with a tank that has qutie a bit of macro algea and perhaps an anemone or two. I am also wanting a kind of "Turtle Grass" effect with an anemone in the center and macroalgea surrounding. Then all I need is some hermit crabs, snails, and shrimp. Tell me what you guys think and any suggestions you have.

Sounds great, except anemones need to be placed into a tank after it's been set up with stable paramaters for at least a few months, longer preferably.
Other than that it sounds like it'll work.

So i'm thinking live rock on the sides and some turtle grass filling up most of the tank. Here are a couple pics. I think it would be nice. A good sea horse set up.

That is the effect I would like to portray, except I am going to put some taller seaweed in the back. I am still trying to convince my mom so it might take longer than expected. THere is an elysia, elysia crispata that is very neat and would fit perfectly into this setup. I would like some colonial shrimp for the anemone too.

I will attempt to get them somehow or substitute macro-algea for them.

Well at any rate this will be a great tank if done correctly and i have no doubt that you can do it right.
I would think about seahorses for this tank. What size tank would it be?

Yeah the only problem with seahorses is the live food. I think i will leave fish out of this one. Would a clownfish be good in this tank though? I am going as big as possible. Right now I can afford a 55 gallon. I also want to leave some money so that I dont run out when I am stocking my FW 90 gallon.

A clownfish would work fine in a 55g.

you don't want to have seahorses with anemones either, as the anemones will sting them. just a heads up for anyone
