Re: Randomaz
Honestly i think of cold except for the great lake cities and other major canadian cities trying to merge with the US metro areas. Which is a great idea.

it's not cold, just minus 40 during winter and +30 during the summer. It's about -15 right now over here.

Yep it was fun walking down stairs. But it can be deadly if you get enough so you have to be really careful

I know its deadly... Not as bad was what im going through, Anti-Depressant withdrawls are fun, 36 symptoms I counted in 12 hours including hearing things, vertigo, rapid mood changes Etc. Not saying deadly isnt bad but in your case it wasnt.

Re: Randomaz
Youre crazy, No offence but chillers are expensive and on top of that temperate tanks dont really have anything interesting to stock at low tank volumes. In my opinion it seems like a waste of money honestly.

I disagree so much that you should be banned . You can have tons of neat stuff in small volume tanks as long as you keep up with your filtration! Just take a peek at some of NR's tanks. .
Great job on finding the chiller rambo !

Re: Randomaz
Well thats kind of my point here, If you mess up getting the wrong chiller your out a lot of money, Same with filtration etc. I still regret starting something as small as the 6. (speaking of which my mom is going psychotic so now the 40 upgrade is off temporarily) Thats just my personal opinion, I do have to admit I love my peppermint shrimp and my kenya. Speaking of which I got to test that tank...

Re: Randomaz
lol, I dont have any marine tanks higher than 20 gallons. I do LOTS fo studying on picos. My friend has a 3g reef and it is amazing. We also set up a 1/10 g that has palys, macro, and a kenya tree, it is awesome. If my chiller goes out the tank is so small I could put it in the refrigerator if needed . lol I agree everyone has their own opinions.

Re: Randomaz
Well the tank is cycling, its small, a 2.7 gallon curved glass. But its awesome. Im cycling with the iceprobe at 62. My friend across the street found some strawberry anemones on a free rock at the lfs. They were doing bad in his tropical tank so he gave me them and they are doing good at 62. The controller that came with the iceprobe can only be set to 65, so I have to get the TEC-45 so that it can hopefully get the tank to 55-56 degrees.

Well i should say they were doing bad! Are the nems on the Gulf Coast the same color as those on the West (pinkish-red)?

Re: Randomaz
Well im not collecting anything for my tank right now, I think these came from California or something. They have an orange base. The tank got to 58 now that the sides are insulated and im getting a filter in a secong to add some flow. Im getting my livestock from a guy on NR who lives in Puget Sound , so im pretty excited. i think im gonna try to use jamie's cycling techique its similiar to mine. Just check water quality and water change when needed. I cycled all my tanks with livestock (carefully) so I think I can do it with coldwater. Ill setup a thread with pics later.

Re: Randomaz
Thanks , I checked the temp again, it was at a nice 66 degrees  . Perfect temp. But then I realized the iceprobe had a few small scratches and chip on the cooling bar. And I found out that under the paint is aluminum :| , so I had to silicon all the cracks over because aluminum is harmful to inverts. hopefully i got all the scratches covered. that means I have to wait 2 days for the silicon to cure and I had to move the strawberrys temporarily to my pipefish lagoon tank that runs at about 75-78. They will be fine for 2 days though. On the good side, I bought a Aqua Clear 20 and drilled a hole in the side for the iceprobe to fit in.
