Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
I got a small piece of rock in it now waiting on the sand to settle (small piece of LR with the peice of base) Im a little hesitant to add everything because the water is at 1.5 ammonia so its either A: Mini cycle, Or B: Try to make 2 tanks work with one tanks worth of gear. Thoughts?

Wait a couple days? Do you have the stuff for the ammonia? You might just transfer the live rock and since the filter on the established tank has the bacteria it should be fine. However if you had to choose i would go with A:Mini cycle. It gets very expensive running two tanks plus mini cycles dont last that long.

Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
I have the HOB fuge on the 20L with the heater/powerhead. Relying on the light to keep the 6 warm right now witch it usually holds it at about 85 during the day so thats no problem. Waiting on the water to clear up in the 20L before I transfer anything over. Well, I did take one piece of LR with a margarita and my turbo on it and put it into the 20L with the piece of base rock. I did have 8 pounds of LR in the 6 anyway so I could swing it, That way while im waiting im still getting the mini cycle started so its good and gone quicker. Overall I think I really have the balancing act handled very well considering. I also have the 20L RIGHT beside the 6 because im going to raise the 6 and set it up as a fuge for cheato basically have another powerhead forcing water up a tube into it and it overflowing back into the 20L. I HOPE I have it figured out as well as I think I do. Im leaving that decision up to you and jacob since you two have more experience though.

Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
Couldnt see anything if I took them. I need to find my filter floss and get it into the HOB fuge, Cheato as my mechanical filtration for clearin the water isnt great...Il see what I can do about having the water clear enough to get pics tomorrow if I can find some.

Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
I made it look a lot more complex than it is. Basically a pump in the back right of the 20L PVC runs up and over to the fuge down the back and sprays out of little holes il drill in it. One in the 6 goes basically the same thing over to the 20L but it will go to the left side of the tank and spray towards the right. Both of them will have end caps on them to keep them spraying the way I want.

Well, I got to fintastic just in time today and saved a ocellaris clown and 2 zoa frags from the fish store for $18.
Already noticed the rock has at least 1 bristle worm and what looked like a tiny isopod (I GOT MY WISH!! YAY!!!) Im not sure what the pointy thing is yet. I dont believe its a nem of any kind. Maybe a small urchin?

Okay so I think I have my CUC picked out:
5 Zig Zag Periwinkles.
1 Bag of Pods for fuge and another for display.
2 Turbo's
3 Nassarius Vibex
10 Dwarf Cerith
I might add a crab. Im not sure quite yet im a little hesitant. If I do get one I think il go with an acro crab.

Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
Ordering my CUC right now...Not paying $20 extra for express shipping just for 2 turbos, So, I replaced them with 5 extra zig zag periwinkles and 2 florida ceriths
Okay so I painted the 6 tonight, Started working on my plumbing, I have saltwater mixing, And, Me and the guy at reefcleaners had a talk about how fed up shipping is. Anyway, I figured id post a quick pic of the spray bars. Each has 14 holes so the flow should be about even and if not I can add an extra to witchever I need.

Okay so I set EVERYTHING up and...Sure enough, I need an extra hole on the return bar to hopefully aleviate the back pressure diffirence, And I need to re-seal all the joints etc because apparently there is a leak somewhere.

Will do. I did notice that the weird red thing is an anemone if I had to make a shot in the dark. Unlike the zoas it dosent close up at night but it does move/respond to flower changes, touches etc.

Re: Starting a 6 gallon.
WEELLLLL...Just tested the tank, Its in a mini cycle .5 Ammonia, 20 Nitrates. 7.8 PH and 0 Nitrites. I know what is causing it though. I had to use some cotton pillow stuffing to get some mechincal filtration in the tank when I set it up and I forgot to take it out. Skimmer is still breaking in. Il get new pics up tomorrow, Im going to do a WC and break down/scrub the HOB and try to get some new filter floss and maybe see if I cant figure out a way to increase the HOB size. Oh and im thinking about rescaping.
