I don't think humans are at risk from those guys, unless of course you're allergic to their venom.

I guess. It'd probably be a good idea to find out which ones if you live near any...

Rockcod are a type of scorpionfish? I didn't know that.
I have caught most of those and I don't think they have venom, they have painful spines but thats it.

Re: Scorpionfish
You can legally catch one. The limit is one per person per day. It used to be 5 but the population is going waay down. We don't even keep them anymore. My family has pictures from over 50 years ago of hundreds of them lined up on logs ready to be cleaned. They can live for over 100 years too, which is really neat.
Where are these hairs? Are you sure all of them have them? I have handled these fish 1000s of times and never been stung, only spined haha.

Are you talking about a specific species or just scorpions in general?

Re: Scorpionfish
True. They might not be legal there. Some of them might even live there because you have warmer water

Re: Scorpionfish
I am talking about only one species in the amazon. It is practically blind because it lives in black water. THat is why it uses hairs on it's head.

Re: Scorpionfish
Rockfish are delicious.
Regs in Oregon are way less stringent than in Washington. The limit is like, 8 per person per day or something. The thing about Oregon is that it's completely unprotected, and the ocean is usually too rough to go out, so they don't get fished for much.
