What is Old is What is New?

Hello:

Some of you may know me from other circles in the aquarium hobby. I started keeping fish in aquariums over 30 years ago and have principally focused on freshwater fishes, namely cichlids. I have travelled a lot throughout Central America to see and photograph the fishes there. However, what few know is that I got my interest in field trips from visiting my own coastline -- I live in Oregon.

I have made many field expeditions to visit my coast's marine life, as an above-the-water naturalist viewing tidepools and substrates at low tide on the open coast and in the estuaries. With that, I bring some knowledge of the animals as well as the laws that protect them. What I would like to start at some point, however, is actually keeping the animals in a chilled, biotope aquarium in my home. Whilst I know something about the habitat, anything about the actual keeping of the animals in my native range will be actively read while I consider either converting an existing aquarium or purchasing new equipment.
