Re: LIMITED EDITION SPACE MONSTERS
Not really. Most that I have seen are for tropical reefs. I don't have a lot of interest in these. I really like my native tank, it lets me do a lot more for the hobby than buy stuff and then look at the stuff I bought. hehehe... I get to find and ID things see how they fair.
Right now I don't have a chiller, but all I collect is from the inter tidal zone, so I figure I have until the heat of next summer to make a chiller. The current focus is on stocking and water quality.
Note to native reefers: Water quality is really hard to improve if you keep adding stuff! lol I took a rock crab, an ocher seastar and a leather seastar back last night, but I brought home a bunch of tubeworms. I had to bring the rocks home with them, so I keep importing organic mater into the tank. The water is foggy all the time, but things seem thriving.
Take a smell of your skimmer's collection cup. That is what the beach here smells like when I collect at low tide. I think these creatures are very resistant to organic pollutants! lol!

Re: LIMITED EDITION SPACE MONSTERS
"tropical" and "temperate" refer to temperature of the tank and the type of livestock. Your corals are tropical. Most temperate reefers have to cool rather than heat the water.
The water is foggy from bacteria because I keep adding rocks and livestock to the tank.
