how much instant ocean?
Hi there!
Any one know a formula for figuring out how much Instant Ocean I will need to fill my 80 gal? I just wondering, since it's not exactly cheap, if it is worth my time to make all those trips to the sea on foot to collect actual seawater.
1/2 cup /gallon is what it says on the bag, but I don't know that in weight, besides, I'm a cook and NONE ever measures 80 cup! lol

Well a 50 gallon mix is about $19.99, you would need 2 of those. Or petsmart has the 160 gallon mix buckets on sale for $38.99.
I bought a bucket for my tank.

tap water is not safe for inverts in almost any place. I use RODI water already made from my local lfs. With tap you will have a large die-off.

ok.. I think I will have to get a bucket of instant ocean.
Rambo, I water quality is highly variable depending on location. Luckily Vancouver has some of the very best tap water in world! lol. Do the bottled water v. tap water taste tests is one of the standard "slow news day" items that gets dragged out every couple months. Tap water always wins! lol
It's all cuz of the rain, and we get LOTS of it! A 2 week dry spell and people talk about drought hehehe
