Hi from quebec!

Post by captnHaddock on January 26th 2010, 1:24 pm

Hi,

first sorry for my english!

I am in the hobby of tropical reef tank since 8 years. Now I want to start a coldwater nano, 10-30 gallons. A good chiller is needed to push down the temperature to around 40-50. Im planning to buy a used aquanetic chiller 1/5hp. This chiller would be enough? any long term issue on the chiller?

tank you Very Happy

Pufferfreak is the expert on coldwater tanks so il just say hey and welcome to temperate reef. However, I do have one question: Are chillers really like small engines? Seems kind of problematic. However I cant think of any long term issues on using a chiller thats basically the long term fix for temperature problems.

Welcome to the forum and your english is great!

First of all i am not sure of the brands over in Canada. Do you have a link that shows the chiller? It should be fine from what it sounds like though.

I see. Probably have the economy to blame for that.

I took a few looks online and it seems that it is a pretty reliable chiller. The only question is how old is the chiller? I might see if you can test it out or have the owner test it to see if it is still working well.

I would recommend testing the chiller first if you can before you buy it.
